Electric Cars

Have you noticed that the Electric Car manufacturers DON’T tell you how much it costs to recharge their car. They only tell you that you do not need to buy gas. So, why not let the public know that it costs to use electric. Is it more than gas? Is it less than gas? Will the price of electricity go up when lots of cars are running on electricity?* They add a whapping $18,000** to the price of a car just because it has an electric engine and batteries. Even if gas was $10 per gallon and electricity was FREE it would be a bad investment. No way will the average driver have $18,000 in gas savings over the average 3 to 5 year period of owning the car. Then there is the reality of actually having to pay for electricity to run your car for ONLY 100 miles before you are sitting alongside the road waiting for a replacement battery or your trickle charger to get you going again.

The only thing good about an electric car is that you actually have the ability to charge it using solar, wind or Gilligan’s bicycle. For a minimum of $18,000. Plus the cost of whatever power generating system you build for an additional $10,000 to $20,000. You'll use the electric company simply because it is cheeper than creating your own electricity. The comparable car now days would go 4 times further on a 10 gallon tank of gas. However you are then using petroleum (fossil fuel) not electricity. Well sort of, since petroleum (fossil fuel) is used in creating most electricity, so how does that balance out? The only true efficient thing to do in reducing oil consumption in vehicles is build a more efficient carburetor that gets like 200 mpg. Which would push the cost of fuel over $10 per gallon.

* (This would increase all of your electrical costs. Not just charging the car but watching Television, Lighting your house, etc.)
** (There are tax rebates available to offset the price by as much as $7,500 but that money comes from you in taxes. Yes, your taxes.)
